What activities are planned in Greenville for Islam Awareness Week?

Lectures, a panel discussion, and a meet-and-greet at the library.

Those are the activities planned in Greenville during Islam Awareness Week, observed Oct. 3-12 at Furman University.

The first event is a lecture by Alfons Teipen, an associate professor of Islamic studies at Furman. The topic is "Islam: What everyone Needs to Know?" It is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 3 in the Watkins Room in the Trone Student Center at Furman.

"Black Muslim in America" will be the focus of the next lecture, set for 7 p.m. on Oct. 4 in the Watkins Room Trone Student Center.

There will be an opportunity on Oct. 6 to "Meet Your Muslim Neighbor," while enjoying free doughnuts and coffee. This event will begin at 10 a.m. on the library stairs at Furman.

The Upstate Muslim community will talk about Muslims in America during a panel discussion at 7 p.m. on Oct. 12. The event will be held in the Watkins Room in the Trone Student Center.
